That said, I do hope that the fans generally take a good look at themselves and realize that to boo and heckle a player is one thing, but to harass a player's spouse off the field is something else entirely. But of course they won't because every year or so you hear of another story like this.
And kudos for taking him to task. Too many boston fans/media-types are blowing over his comments as being misconstrued and calling yankees fans the "real villians" for the booing. No one misunderstood him. He clearly stated that he thought that he had earned the right to close the game. Not that he wanted to, but that he had earned the right to. Which is idiotic to say 1) in enemy territory and 2) when you're basivally saying that you have the right close over the best reliever in baseball history in his home stadium. And as for booing Papelbon during the parade... um, how is that any worse than the Madonna masks that fans were wearing last time A-Rod came to Fenway? Just sayin'...
Maybe you should work on the follow up story on Bob Ryan's son dying. Get some facts on the one... like his name.
