    Rob,

I don't even know which kids are in minor league camp. Do they all go there (besided the ones playing in the Dominican)?

First, is there any prospects you've seen that have caught your eye in minor league camp, or perhaps you've heard some buzz about from a source?

I'd love to hear about anything you know about anyone really, but some names I am curious about...

    Pitching, Pitching, Pitching!!

    - Clay Buchholz (of course)

    - Michael Bowden

    - Daniel Bard

    - Bryce Cox

    - Justin Masterson (starter this year)

    - Felix Doubrant

    - Caleb Clay

As for hitters, I'm wondering about Jed Lowrie. He seemed to grab some people's attention last year in camp (Francona), but had an up and down year and is looking to bounce back.

...but really, anything about any of the young kids would be great.

    Squeeze those sources for info!

    Hi, Rob:

I haven't posted in a few days but I must commend you for a great job thus far covering the team in Fort Myers; you're obviously having a lot of fun with this blog and you even got high praise from a long-standing Sox blog, The Joy of Sox.

I don't have any questions right now but keep it up and have a great day off from the keyboard.

Rob, what has Brad Mills been up to this spring? Haven't heard boo about him.

How does Kevin Youkilis obviously have perhaps the best discerning eye in baseball?

  • Anonymous · 2 years ago

Kevin Youlilis has perhaps the best discrening eye in baseball because he has an excellent eye for strikes. As Peter Gammons put it, he's the "Greek God of Walks".

    Hi Rob,

You should link to a reference such as this one and even when you mention your own stories in the paper.

"Read C.J. Nitkowski's journal for the Associated Press about his current stay in the Japanese spring training and you can get an idea just how different the two countries approach the preseason."

  • Anonymous · 2 years ago

I'm not disputing Youkilis' ability to judge balls and strikes. I've also actually watched Red Sox games in my life as well, so I know all about Youk (who's Jewish, but not Greek - and yes, I read "Moneyball").

I was referring to Rob's word choice. "Obviously" suggests that it's a no-brainer and "perhaps" suggests that it's debatable. I think he kind of contradicted himself in this sentence.

Either way, this blog is a fantastic addition to my daily surf.

The term "Greek God of Walks" has nothing to do with ethnicity, but is a reference to the group of specialized gods that made Greece famous. I didn't think anyone wouold pick apart an allusion used to praise a player, having no basis on their ethnic background. However, I do agree that this log is fantastic.
