The Jets chose not to show up …
When Greg got home from work yesterday, after the initial greeting he said, "Want to ride to Boston?" I thought he had bought tickets
however, he said no, but he truly wanted to see if we could get some there. He thought we should go on a little adventure and we all know I was ready in 5 minutes but sure that we would not get them and we would be back here watching the game by 9. Off we go, adorned in Red Sox garb. Parked in North Station, took the subway to Fenway, and there we were. Greg had made a little sign ~ NEED TWO TICKETS ~ and there we stood. One gentleman came up and he had tickets for $800.00 each. We, of course, couldn't do those. So again, there we stood. At about 8 a gentleman came up to us and asked where we were from and were we hard core Sox fans. Greg stated he could name the players from 1967 and where they played. He did that and then said to this wonderful gentleman, do you have tickets to sell? His reply: No, I have tickets that I will GIVE to you for your Red Sox clothes that you have on. We were both stunned, asked a few questions, he showed us the tickets and it just happened. Greg took off his jacket, his hat and yes, I no longer have my Lugo shirt. As I went to hand him my shirt ~ he gave us the tickets. In a flurry of Thank-you's off we went to the game. When we arrived at the gate I said to Greg, "okay, you go first and if we have been scammed I am just going to be right here crying." WHALA, in we went and the rest is history. There we were, Gate D, Sec 11 Row 12 Seats 1 and 2!!!!!!!!!!!!! As I sit here, looking at the tickets, knowing we didn't get home until 1:38, looking at the program, I am still waiting to wake up from the dream. It was fantastic, awesome, incredible and I still can't believe it all happens. A world series game!
I took my camera and have pics. If anyone was watching the game (like who wasn't?) we were the ones WITHOUT Red Sox garb. LOL
Have a great day!
Great story. Send me an e-mail at bburt@eagletribune.com with where you live and contact number. I would like to see the pics, too.
Take care.
