The Jets chose not to show up …
When Lowell came over from the Marlins along with Beckett, everything was about Beckett and what a great pitcher we received and how Lowell was just the tag along. Well, hell, he proved to be a great tag along as well as a leader on and off the field, he also proved that he can still play. Age is a factor and so is the hip injury, but its hard to let a guy that has had such an impact in such a short career here in Boston go. At some point the Sox have to figure out what they are going to do because if Lowell does injure himself again, then that leaves Youkilis to toggle first and third again. I'm pretty sure he's going to get upset at some point.
I would love for Lowell to stay because of what he has done so far in Beantown and because if Texiera comes on board then what happens to guys like Youkilis, and Lars Anderson? Lars Anderson is ranked Number 1 in the Sox Farm system and could possibly replace Ortiz when Ortiz is done hitting walk off HRs for Boston fans.
No question Texiera makes Boston a better team in numerous ways, but I like our chances with/without him as well.
