But we have to come to grips with the NFL bordering on mediocrity, from top to bottom. Other than the Patriots, it was like that a year ago, until the Giants came along.
The point is the Titans are not a great team. They have a great defense against mediocre talent. Let's talk in a month.
The Titans could go 15-1 and nothing would change, unless they could score more.
As for the Patriots, they must sweep all three games coming up if they are as "decent" as I think they are.

Re: My Week 9 NFL Power Rankings

I think this blog is so cute how Bill gets to talk with his one or two friends about sports.

Re: My Week 9 NFL Power Rankings

Sorry Bill, but Pittsburgh's D is not better than Tennessee's, and while Kerry Collins may indeed cost them come playoff time (I think it's a safe bet they're in the postseason), right now he's delivering in Net Yards Per Attempt. No way they lose to a Chicago Bears team that's great on defense but stinks on offense, plus the Titans are #1 in point differential in the NFL versus Chicago's #4.

The Giants are scary because when they do ask something big of Eli Manning, he delivers. But the way Cleveland undressed them a few weeks back, somebody is going to break down that film and figure out how to duplicate it eventually (hoping it's either the Patriots or Titans).

Pittsburgh is kind of schitzo right now because they got undressed by Eli Manning and then beat the snot out of Washington. Typical Steelers football.

Rushing the ball and stoppin the run matter, but it's Cassel's air attack and pocket poise that stands him and the Patriots in excellent sad from here out.

Donovan McNabb will cost the Eagles again by the end of the season.

Indianapolis' frustrating win over the Patriots doesn't change that they've got big problems on both sides of the ball - if the Pats meet them in the playoffs I expect a more physical punishing attack a la the Broncos Monday Night Massacre, and the Colts will collapse under it as they've been falling all year to physical teams (Chicago, Jacksonville, Green Bay, Tennesse).
