The Jets chose not to show up …
I've heard that other teams are talking some about Pineiro. Is it true the Sox cannot trade him though until 6 months has passed since signing him to a contract? I've read conflicting views on this... with some saying the Sox have to wait until June to trade him.
With Papelbon apparently planning to be a closer for the rest of his career, where does this leave Craig Hansen? He has rarely pitched well in the majors, and he's been a disaster this spring.
Not to make too much of demeanor or get into the obvious biases that we all can have just be looking at players, but Papelbon's confidence is almost overwhelming whereas Hansen looks like he has no idea what's going to happen when he lets go of the ball. I wouldn't be surprised or upset if they traded this project and some others for a proven player.
Hansen seems like the perfect candidate for the "change of scenery" plan...
I think that no matter the rule - Pineiro can approve a deal. He likely wants a trade where he can close since he has an incentive for games finished.
Rob - I think Lopez is out of options, so Manny D makes the team. The Loggy likely gets claimed.
