ETBlogs Sports: Hot stove talk: Do Sox really need Teixeira?

It comes down to what you project Lars to become. If you think that he can adjust his swing to cut down on his GB% and translate his raw power in to 30+ homeruns, then Teixiera isn't a neccessary signing. If, however, he doesn't get more lift on the ball he's more likely to become John Olerud than Justin Morneau. Not that there's anything wrong with Johnny O; he was a great ballplayer. But without Tex and with Ortiz entering his decline phase, that just isn't enough of a middle-of-the-order prescence.

SIGN HIM!!!! Hate to say it....Big Papi is not so big anymore...without dreaded Manny. We will need Tex. Youk and Tex will be the new Papi and Manny combo.
