ETBlogs Sports: Hot stove talk: Do Sox really need Teixeira?

Marcel · 11 months agoIt comes down to what you project Lars to become. If you think that he can adjust his swing to cut down on his GB% and translate his raw power in to 30+ homeruns, then Teixiera isn't a neccessary signing. If, however, he doesn't get more lift on the ball he's more likely to become John Olerud than Justin Morneau. Not that there's anything wrong with Johnny O; he was a great ballplayer. But without Tex and with Ortiz entering his decline phase, that just isn't enough of a middle-of-the-order prescence.
